Bhopal: Aamir Khan lauds Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
Actor Aamir Khan during a short visit to Bhopal on Sunday, declared the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' as the most impressive mission of the Prime Minister.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government, he also said the mission was the most impressive step of the Modi government.
The actor was in Bhopal to shoot for a live episode of his popular television show 'Satyamev Jayate'.
On being asked if he or his team happened to face any kind of pressure from the government during or after any episode he said, "The government has always been co-operative. A couple of days back I interacted with Nitin Gadkari over an issue for over an hour when he said that there are a lot of pressure and frictions while implementing new policies and rules. But when people in lakhs and crores show their support through the show, it gives him (Gadkari) more strength."
He said there were several other such incidents, where the government had always helped and effected changes. Like, Madhya Pradesh’s chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, decided to increase the supply of generic medicines to government hospitals after our episode on flaws in medical system was aired.
Similarly, he said, the collector in Gwalior took measures to make the town the country’s first disabled-friendly city after an episode on 'condition of disabled in India' was aired. So, the government has always cooperated. "But there are a few private lobbies which sometimes try to create problems but we manage to handle them."
The actor also said he had always received a dynamic response from the political and administrative lobby and also that he and his team never ran away from any issue.
"Anything that concerns the common man, Satyamev Jayate will make sure it gets highlighted," he assured. The actor’s show takes up issues that are unsolved and needs recognition in India. On being asked if he will ever do an episode on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, he said, "That’s an issue of national importance and I will read more about it, will ask my team to research and we will definitely try to let people know about it and seek some solution."

BHOPAL: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India Mission launched by PM Narendra Modi is possible, if people and municipalities across the country actively participate in this drive.
Bollywood actor and host of reality show Satyamev Jayate Aamir Khan, who was in town on Sunday for live screening of 'Mumkin Hai' programme, addressed a press conference thereafter. Responding to a question, he said "Swachh Bharat is definitely possible by 2019 as envisioned by the PM, but not easy".
He referred to an episode of the show on solid and liquid resource management (SLRM) and said that if all municipalities and citizens adopted this method of segregating waste, it would be a 'win-win situation for all'.
During the press conference, the actor dodged a direct question on the issue of 'love jihad' by saying "I need to do more research before I comment." However, he later compared love jihad to honour killings. "In both cases, we don't respect the right of an individual to choose a partner."
I am a Muslim and both my former wife Reena and current spouse Kiran are Hindus. Also my sister is married to a Hindu. The children in our family learn about all religions. I don't believe in forceful conversions as everyone has the right to religion and right to life. For me, humanity is the supreme religion".
On being asked as to whether he would make an episode to mark the 30{+t}{+h} anniversary of Bhopal Gas Tragedy, he said, "We don't reveal topics beforehand but I would definitely discuss this with my team and think about how we can work on this theme".
The actor claimed that Gwalior district administration collector, health department of Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan were evidently moved by some episodes of Satyamev Jayate.
Gwalior collector made 95 per cent of the city disabled friendly while the chief minister and health department introduced the generic-medicines scheme in the state, he said.
"The political and administrative class is after all human and we have received a dynamic response from them after the telecast of some of our episodes," he said.
The actor also claimed that Maharashtra, where the sex ratio was 819 females per 1,000 males and was severely lagging behind the national average of 914 has in fact improved the ratio to 940 after his show on poor sex ratio was aired.
